My Point
Written by Neha Kumari

A thriller incounter between KXIP and MI last night where KXIP was playing to keep their hope alive for qualification. MI was playing to gain some momentum back and grab the one number spot on points table and make sure they get a qualification match in their home. Yes, first qualifier will be played in Wandkhade Stadium, Mumbai.
Now came to last match between KXIP and MI was action packed and full of entertainment. Probably the best match of IPL so far batting wise. Both teams has played twice both time the matches were run feast. We certainly love these types of matches, not if you are a bowler 😜
Kings XI Punjab was in mood to make it big this time . Probably they would have remembered last match against MI where 190+ was chased down in 16 overs .
Kings Xl Punjab – 230/3 ( 20 overs )
Mumbai Indians – 223 /6 ( 20 overs )
Kings Xl Punjab Innings
For KXIP they had a new opening partnership of Saha and Guptill as Hashim Amla gone to do his National duties . Saha and Guptill gave them a brisk start , exactly what they needed . They made 71 runs in the mandatory powerplay of 6 overs . Guptill made a gritty 36 runs in just 18 balls .
After Guptill got out to Karn Sharma with a spectacular catch by Hardik in deep , Maxwell promote himself and came out to play at No 3 position. Maxwell started to play his shot and hitting everything out from boundary rope . For a moment he turned the clock to 2014 and playing like Maxwell of 2014 with no fear attitude . He was making a mockery of MI bowling and hitting everyball out of the park . He made a fast 47 runs in just 21 balls before getting bold out with a desicive length ball by Jasprit Bumrah .
Saha played really well and made 93* runs in 55 balla and remained not out . Saha innings had a lot flair , power hitting and sensibility as well . In power play they attack from both end . When Maxwell was hitting he was happy in giving him strike . When he got out he was playing the attacking role .
Shaun Marsh and Axar patel also contributed in team performance . They both made 25 runs in 16 balls and 19 runs in 13 balls respectively .
Mumbai Indians bowling was a little fragile in the match . 3 No balls and extras cost them the match in the end .
Mumbai Indians Innings
MI openers gave them a fiercey start and made 68 runs in the mandatory powerplay of 6 overs . Mohit Sharma dropped Lendil Simmons on Axar Patel bowling while he was on 44 runs . Later on he made 59 runs in 32 balls before falling to a one hand stunning catch by Guptill on Maxwell’s bowling .
MI first wicket partnership made 99 runs in 8.3 overs and Partiv patel made 38 runs in 23 runs before falling to Mohit sharma’s slower ball.
MI lost their top four batsmen in quick session . From 99-1 to 121-4 they lost four top order batsmen in just 22 runs .
Hardik Pandya and Pollard made a partnership and build the MI innings again . They made 50+ runs partnerships in just 20 balls .
MI needed 54 runs in last 4 over . Hardik Pandya got out in very first ball of 17th over . Karn sharma made 19 runs in just 6 balls .
Kieron Pollard tries to win the match for the team but remained 50* not out in 24 balls .
KXlP won the match and keeps their hope alives for qualification .
MI best score of IPL history 223 runs in 20 overs was just enough today for them .
That’s all for today .
